Low back pain can range from inconvenient to severe,
but we know if affects quality of life!

If any of these hit close to home, you’re in the right place.

You’re wondering whether your back pain might be caused by a disc bulge, arthritis, muscle weakness, age or something else – and that feels concerning
You’ve had to pull out of plans, skip the gym, or say no to activities you actually enjoy
You’ve tried rest, heat packs, and maybe even seen a GP – but it just keeps coming back
You can’t sit at your desk, stand at the bench, or drive more than 20 minutes without the ache setting in, or getting shooting pains in your legs
You’re starting to wonder if this is just “your normal” now – and you’re not ready for it to be
You wake up stiff every morning and have to shuffle to the bathroom before you can walk properly

Here’s the honest truth: lower back pain is extremely common, with multiple causes.
It is also one of the most poorly managed types of pain in Australia.

We Don’t Just Treat the Spot That Hurts

Most clinics focus only on where the pain is. We look at why it’s happening in the first place – movement patterns, lifestyle, previous injuries, stress – and treat the root cause.

We assess for all causes of back pain (bone, disc, muscle, joint, nerve), take into consideration other influential factors (exercise, stress, sleep etc) and provide you with an accurate diagnosis that we can treat and rehabilitate.

Most patients tell us they wish they’d come in sooner.
Not because of the cost of waiting – but because of everything they missed out on while they were in pain.

Let’s Be Upfront About Who We Help Best

We’re not the right fit for everyone – and that’s okay. Here’s how to know if we’re right for you.

✓ This is for you if…

  • Your lower back pain is affecting your work, sleep, or daily life
  • Want to understand why your back pain keeps coming back, not just temporarily settle it
  • Are open to a combination of hands-on treatment, movement and practical strategies
  • You’ve tried resting and it hasn’t fully resolved itself
  • Want a clinician who will listen, explain clearly and help you build confidence in your back again

✗ We may not be the right fit if…

  • You’re hoping for a single treatment that permanently fixes everything without any home care advice
  • You’re not interested in understanding or preventing future pain
  • You need emergency medical or surgical care (we’ll refer you if so)

If you’re not sure, that’s completely fine. Many people aren’t sure what they need when they first book. If you’d like to talk it through, you can call the clinic or book an initial appointment, and we’ll help you decide whether this approach is right for you.

Don’t Spend Another Week missing out on important activities, confused about how to heal

Honest Answers to the Things
People Actually Wonder

Osteopathy in combination with gentle exercise and lifestyle management (which our team provides!) is well evidenced for lower back pain — both acute flare-ups and long-term chronic pain. We treat people with disc-related issues, muscle strain, postural concerns, arthritis, chronic pain and more. If after your assessment we believe you’d be better served elsewhere, we’ll tell you that honestly and refer you on. We’d rather you get the right help than book appointments you don’t need.
Many patients feel significant relief after just one or two appointments, and lower back pain rarely requires ongoing appointments without an end date. The actual number depends on how long you’ve had the problem and how your body responds. After your first appointment, we’ll give you a clear, realistic estimate – not an open-ended course of treatment designed to keep you coming back. We’re straightforward about this because we believe in earning your trust, not your dependency.
No. You can book directly without any referral. If you want to use Medicare’s Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, you’ll need a GP referral for that specifically – but you can absolutely start treatment without one. Health fund rebates are available for most providers without a referral too.
Sometimes acute pain settles down with rest – but if it keeps coming back, or hasn’t improved in 2–3 weeks, rest alone isn’t addressing the underlying cause. In many cases, inactivity actually makes it worse. The longer you wait, the more muscles may weaken, which may make movement more difficult in the future and predispose more bouts of pain. Getting assessed early is almost always cheaper, faster, and less painful than waiting it out.
Treatment should not hurt. You might feel some minor soreness for a day or so after – particularly if muscles haven’t been worked for a while – but a good osteopath always works within your comfort zone and adjusts based on your feedback. We ask, we listen, and we don’t push through pain. The old “no pain, no gain” approach has thankfully been disproven.
Our consultation fees are competitive with the local area. If you have private health insurance, you’ll receive a rebate on the spot. Medicare CDM plans provide up to 5 partially-subsidised visits per year with a GP referral. NDIS and WorkCover clients are also welcome. We have some Osteopaths who can provide GAP FREE appointments under that medicare CDM scheme. Call us or check the website for current fees – we’re always transparent about pricing before you commit to anything.
We typically have new patient appointments available within the same or following week. If you’re in acute pain and need to be seen urgently, call us directly and we’ll do our best to fit you in sooner.
Most bouts of lower back pain do not require scans or imaging, and the vast majority of lower back pain improves with conservative care. Our Osteopaths are trained to identify indications for scans, such as nerve involvement or suspicious symptoms that may indicate sinister causes of pain. Your practitioner will provide a thorough discussion and assessment to help to confidently inform you why you may or may not require scans, and if scans are warranted, we can often provide the referral.
