Dry Needling

Osteopaths use dry needling to help reduce muscle spasm and tension. The Osteos at Chadstone Region Osteopathy are experienced practitioners thoroughly trained in the safe and therapeutic use of dry needling.

Dry needling uses fine gauge acupuncture needles. It differs from acupuncture in that it’s not working with meridians, instead it’s based on western medical understandings of how we can influence muscle tone.

Does dry needling hurt?
Generally not. We aim to keep pain to a minimum, and some people don’t feel them at all. There are other times where we can create quite a strong release including local muscle twitches that can be uncomfortable, and tender for a day or two afterwards. Your Osteopath will always explain what they’re doing, how it will likely feel, and ask for feedback throughout.

Does dry needling cost more?
No, if your osteopath believes you will benefit from needling, and you are happy for them to proceed then there is no additional cost at all.

If you’re looking for Dry Needling near Carnegie or Oakleigh our Osteos are more than happy to help!
